Sustainability at a Glance
The chart sizes are only for illustrative purposes and may not represent the real figure.
Energy Consumption in GHG (GJ)
2020 ■ ■ 2019 ■ ■
Notes:
- Data coverage for 2020 includes all our facilities except for Excelic refinery in China.
- Conversion factors are obtained from Biograce V 4d, 2014, Ecoinvent 3.3, ISCC 205 V 3.0.
- Coal makes up 89% of our total fuel consumption from non-renewable sources. Apical does not consume fuel from renewable sources.
GHG Emissions & Emissions Intensity
2020 ■ ■ 2019 ■ ■
Notes:
- GHG emissions are based on the operational control approach.
- Data coverage for 2020 includes all our facilities except for AKC and Excelic refinery in China.
- Data coverage for 2019 includes SDS, AAJ Marunda, KRN, Bio-oils, AAJTB and CEP.
- Calculation of GHG emissions is based on the ISCC Emission 205.
- MT of oil processed reported includes the volume of oil reprocessed and the GHG calculation methodology refers to ISCC 205 Green House Gas Emissions version 3.0.
GHG Emissions by Source (kgCO2e)
2020
■ Chemical usage
■ Effluent treatment
■ Petrol & diesel usage on HP boiler
■ Electricity from power plant
■ Heat generation
■ Electricity from generator
■ Electricity from grid (Scope 2)
Notes:
- Data coverage for 2020 includes all our facilities except for Excelic and AKC.
Water Management
The chart sizes are only for illustrative purposes and may not represent the real figure.
Water Withdrawal by Source (Megalitres)
■ ■ Freshwater (<1000mg/L Total Dissolved Solids) ■ ■ Other Water (>1000mg/L Total Dissolved Solids)
Notes:
- Apical does not withdraw water from water-stressed areas.
- Data coverage for 2020 includes all our facilities except for AKC.
Water Consumption (Megalitres)
2020 ■ ■ 2019 ■ ■
Notes:
- Data for water consumption are obtained from flowmeters.
- Data coverage for 2020 includes all our facilities. Data for SDS covers the whole complex, which includes SDS refinery, CEP, and AKC.
Water Consumption Intensity (m3 of water per tonne of oil processed)
Notes:
- Data for water consumption are obtained from flowmeters.
- Data coverage for 2020 includes all our facilities.
- There was about 17.5% increase in water consumption intensity in Bio-Oils due to increased processing in waste raw materials, tank repair and installation of hydraulic proofs in the facility.
- We envisage to reduce our water intensity target to 0.3m3/MT of oil produced by 2025. We will review our water intensity target upon the launch of APICAL2030 by 2022.
2020 Water Discharge by Destination (Megalitres)
Notes:
- Data coverage for 2020 includes all our facilities except for PRC.
- We continue to practise zero wastewater discharge to ensure proper management of palm oil refinery effluent (PORE).
Waste Management
The chart sizes are only for illustrative purposes and may not represent the real figure.
2020 Quantity of Waste Generated, Diverted from Disposal and Directed to Disposal
■ Hazardous ■ Non-hazardous
Notes:
- The amount of waste diverted from and to disposal includes waste that is stored on site that may not have been generated in 2020.
- The quantity of waste is weighed internally by Apical and also provided by third-party contractors who we engage for disposal.
- Waste management protocol in Indonesia complies with Government Regulation No 101 in 2014, while our facilities in Spain and China complies with relevant local regulations.
