Mighty Earth published Rapid Response 6 in July 2018. The report alleged that between 24 April and 11 July 2018, a total of 243 ha of peat were developed in the PT Sumur Pandawangi (PT SP) concession.

According to the report, PT SP is part of the Musirawas Group, which commonly referred to as the Asam Jawa Group.

On 29 November 2018, Mighty Earth released a Rapid Response 10. The report claimed that between 20 August 2018 and 5 November 2018, a total of 528 ha of peat were developed.

Mighty Earth published a Rapid Response 11 in December 2018. The report alleged that between 5 November 2018 and 10 December 2018, a total of 269 ha of peat were developed on the PT SP concession.

Apical demanded a clarification from Asam Jawa with regards to the peat development allegation in Mighty Earth’s Rapid Response 6.

17 October 2018

A meeting was held between the Apical and Asam Jawa to seek further clarification on the allegation. At this meeting, Asam Jawa clarified and claimed that PT SP does not belong to the group.

Asam Jawa to revert for further clarification on this matter.

Another meeting was held with Asam Jawa in January 2019 for them to provide further clarification on their link with PT SP. Asam Jawa reiterated that they have no management control of PT SP.

Apical has put on hold sourcing from Asam Jawa until the resolution of the issue.
