Apical2030

Launched in February 2022, Apical2030 marks a significant milestone in our commitment to creating a sustainable, deforestation-free supply chain through inclusive transformation and collaboration with smallholders. Our commitment to climate action is demonstrated through circularity and green innovation, which are vital for decarbonisation and achieving net-zero emissions.

The four strategic pillars of Apical2030; Transformative Partnerships, Climate Action, Green Innovation and Inclusive Progress align with Apical’s 5Cs business philosophy. This philosophy focuses on doing what is good for the community, country, climate, customer and only then, will it be good for the company.

Our strategy for achieving the Apical2030 targets is built on strong leadership commitment and shared responsibility with key stakeholders across our supply chain. By prioritising transparency and traceability, we are making significant progress in reducing emissions through technological advancements, forest protection and the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices. We leverage
remote sensing technology for monitoring and protecting forests, conduct third-party verifications for traceability and NDPE (No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation) compliance and adhere to sustainability reporting in line with GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards. As a responsible corporate citizen, Apical is dedicated to the critical goals outlined in Apical2030.

Since the launch of Apical2030, we have made headways in cultivating Transformative Partnerships, by achieving 98.01% in the Delivering Category of No Deforestation for Crude Palm Oil (CPO) based on NDPE IRF and 99.81% CPO Traceability to Plantation (TTP), both verified by Peterson Control Union. Under the Climate Action and Green Innovation pillars, we have completed a comprehensive carbon footprint assessment for Scope 1, 2 and 3 and completed a life cycle analysis that will serve as the foundation for further decarbonisation initiatives. Our commitment to decarbonising our operations include adopting energy-efficient technologies and collaborating with suppliers to reduce emissions across the entire supply chain (Scope 3).

Through the Inclusive Progress pillar, we have launched the Sustainable Living Village (SLV) programme in Aceh and East Kalimantan, Indonesia. This programme adopts a landscape partnership approach, involving local communities, government agencies and NGOs. The goal is to foster a sustainable livelihood ecosystem through tailored programmes for smallholders, ultimately ensuring a deforestation-free supply chain by protecting forests and establishing a response team.

As we advance towards Apical2030, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a sustainable and deforestation-free supply chain while making positive environmental and social impacts through our four strategic pillars.
