SUBJECT
In July 2025, Apical detected approximately 30 ha of forest clearance between the period of January – July 2025 within the PT Kalimantan Barito Persada (KBP) concession, a Sinar Alam Corporation (SAC) owned subsidiary. Apical does not source from KBP but was linked to the SAC group through sourcing linakages with PT Pola Kahuripan Inti Sawit (PKIS). Apical sought clarification from the supplier regarding the alert.
PROGRESS
September 2025
Apical requested clarification from SAC through several engagements. In line with Apical’s sustainability requirements, SAC was requested to issue a Stop Work Order, to conduct an integrated HCV–HCS Assessment, and to develop a remediation plan for all HCV–HCS areas that were impacted by company land clearing.
January – May 2026
Apical detected new deforestation alerts linked to KBP for a total approximate area of 100 ha. Apical continued to engage SAC to request clarification and to follow up on its previous request.
June 2026
As no satisfactory response was received from the SAC management and continued clearance was detected, Apical have decided to suspend the SAC group.
With this decision in place, we consider this case closed.
