If you have been following Apical’s sustainability journey closely, you might have already heard of the newly-formed alliance known as SUSTAIN (Sustainability Assurance & Innovation Alliance). A little over a month old, you may wonder what the value of this initiative is and if this alliance is really going to help solve the traceability and sustainability issues faced by the palm oil industry.
The Japan Sustainable Palm Oil Conference 2018 (JaSPOC2018) took place at the IINO Hall & Conference Center in Tokyo, Japan on 22 October. The annual event was attended by organisations such as WWF, Kao Corporation, Ajinomoto, Nissin Foods Holding, AEON Co and Lion Corporations to name a few.
Director of Sustainability for Apical Group, Bremen Yong represented the palm oil trader and exporter at Enterprise Singapore’s Sustainability Forum which took place on 18th September 2018 at the agency’s headquarters in Victoria Street, Singapore.
Apical Group is now a partner of Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 (TFA 2020). TFA 2020 is the global public-private partnership that brings together governments, private sector, and civil society organisations to reduce deforestation associated with the sourcing of commodities such as palm oil, beef, soy, and pulp and paper.
