Dumai, 20 July 2023 – In order to support the Government of Dumai City to increase the love of reading, Apical, one of the leading global vegetable oil processing companies, through PT Sari Dumai Sejati (PT SDS), participates in the Literacy Expo which is held at the Sri Bunga Tanjung Building, Dumai, today.
In this activity, Apical’s booth presents by displaying sustainable downstream palm oil products, as well as information panels and a Reading Corner which aims to introduce Apical and disseminate information about Apical’s programs in terms of education, especially regarding literacy.
On this occasion, Apical also hand over a symbolic reading book about oil palm and independence in the home industry to the Dumai City Library Service which is handed over directly by Martin Soekendar, Apical Group management representative, to the Head of the Dumai City Library Service, Raja Dona Fitri Illahi, witnessed by the Mayor of Dumai.
According to Martin, Apical’s participation in this literacy exhibition is to support the Government’s program to improve the quality of education, especially in the field of literacy.
“This activity is one of our supports for the City Government of Dumai to increase community literacy. On this occasion we also explain about the literacy programs that we have carried out, such as last May, we provided assistance with reading books to Madrasah schools and assistance with Reading Corner facilities at schools. We hope that this collaboration with the Government can be sustainable in order to increase public literacy and educate the nation,” added Martin.

In the exhibition which is attended by a number of companies, government agencies and a number of schools, Apical’s booth receives a visit from the Regional Secretary of the City of Dumai along with the staff and Deputy of the National Library and the Mayor of Dumai’s entourage.
The Mayor of Dumai in his remarks said, “We really support literacy expo activities as a form of special attention in reading interest for all people. We also thank the Apical Group and other companies that have been participating in the Dumai City government program.
